Endless Possibilities Await the New GCI Year


​The Board Members and I are excited to Welcome you to the new year of The Garden Club of Inverness. From programs and special activities, to winter and summer gatherings, you have the opportunity to enjoy long standing friendships as well as establish new relationships with our more recent members. I was pleased to hear a visitor to our garden party remark that our club seems to be so friendly and welcoming. It is that spirit at our core that has allowed for growth, collaboration and success for the last 77 years.

​ When each one of you joins a committee, volunteers to help at an event, donates time, brings a friend to a meeting or merely engages a new member in conversation you are contributing to the collaborative spirit of our club.

This year holds the possibilities of gaining new gardening information and creative ideas by attending the programs Mary Rubino has scheduled for us, participating in the diversified special events Diane Sanfillippo has on the calendar, or joining Jeanie Martin on one of the committees we need to make the Holiday Luncheon the success it has always been.

The Board decided that since September is so full of listening to what everyone did all summer, gathering friends to join in a special event and signing up for various programs and committees, we would dispense with a formal program after the meeting and have a sharing session.

There will be an opportunity before and after September 21st meeting to sign up for full tables for the Holiday Luncheon whose theme is "Home for the Holidays". Jeannie Martin and her committee have been hard at work all summer preparing invitations, soliciting help with the silent auction and coordinating all the details that go into making the event a success. The speaker this year will be someone who has hands-on experience in bringing the holiday look to one of the most familiar houses in the country-The White House! We look forward to her stories and tips on what we an do to make a very memorable statement in our Home for the Holidays.

​Reservations are $75.00 per person and will be taken until November 16th. No reservations will be accepted after the close of the General meeting on November 16th. Only full table reservation made in September will be eligible for a seating drawing at the meeting in October. Reservations of full tables will continue to be accepted until Nov 16th deadline but those made after the September meeting will not be in the drawing and will be assigned tables in the order the reservations are made.

​The Board and I look forward to a successful and inclusive year for all members. We'll see you at All Saints Lutheran Church, 630 South Quentin Road, Palatine on September 21. The general meeting begins at 9:30am.
