Roadside Flower Sale Workshop

Would you like to learn more about flower arranging while getting to “play” with a multitude of dried flowers, grasses, and pods? Join us at the Chicago Botanic Gardens as we participate in this unique workshop. Floral designers will be on hand to help us as we create our masterpieces! All arrangements made during this event will be donated to the Roadside Flower Sale, which is held later in the week. We will enjoy lunch at the Garden View Café before heading home.

TIME: 9:30-11:30 AM
PLACE: Chicago Botanic Gardens – Burnstein Hall
COST: Lunch at the café (optional.)

Shades of Crimson Greenhouse Tour


Join us for a fun-filled day at Cantigny Park as we attend the “Shades
of Crimson” event in their greenhouse. We will view hundreds of
poinsettias (15-18 different varieties) as they open the greenhouse for
this one-day event. Purchase of poinsettias may be made if desired.
We will have lunch at their clubhouse restaurant, overlooking the
golf course, and take a short tour of the Robert McCormack Mansion.

Holiday Container Workshop


Is the entrance of your home ready for the holidays? Meet us at
Hawthorn Gardens to create a one-of-a-kind winter spruce top
container that will be the perfect touch for your outdoor holiday
decorating. Feel free to bring any used decorative accessories and
containers from past years for your project. Additional greens,
branches, and decorations will be available for purchase. Please dress
warmly as we will be working in the back greenhouse. Coffee and
morning treats will be provided.

TIME: 9:30 am
PLACE: Hawthorn Gardens
COST: Members will pay individually for any items they select
including a container if they do not bring one. Enjoy a courtesy
discount from our gracious hosts.

Holiday Luncheon and Fundraiser

The Garden Club of Inverness invites you to come "Home for the
Holidays" at our annual event held at the Medinah Country Club.
Alison Buck will be the presenter at the program which will include a
range of floral designs for your home. Come and be inspired as we
celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. This gala is the only
fundraiser which supports scholarships, the community, and our
monthly program speakers.

Handmade Pottery Flowerpot Workshop

Enjoy an artistic night out at Positive Strokes as we each create a
unique hand-built pottery flower pot. Your finished product will be a
unique piece of art! More details will be coming soon.

Pasta Making Class


Have you always wanted to learn how to make pasta? Join us for an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship as we create a variety of pasta under the direction of our resident chef, Terry Pagliuzza. After our cooking class, we will enjoy the fruits of our labors as we sit down to a delicious pasta dinner, complete with wine and dessert. Mangia!

Maple Syrup Tapping

Come along with us to visit the Schaumburg Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary. Our morning begins at the Merkel Log Cabin, where we will learn about the sanctuary and the Volkening Heritage Farm which dates back to the 1880’s. We will then take a walk to see an authentic maple syrup tapping and sample the goods. Time permitting, we will also get a glimpse of the farm house and antiques. Our fun continues as we head over to Walker Brothers Pancake House to top off our morning with a delicious stack of pancakes and maple syrup.

Ikebana Floral Design Workshop

This is an evening you will not want to miss. We will be learning all about the Japanese art of Ikebana from designer Misato Sato of Art Expressions in Arlington Heights. Misato has appeared at the Fremd Floral Design Showcase over many years. Her work is often displayed at the Japanese Consulate in Evanston. She has invited us to her home for this special event. After her demonstration, we will design a floral arrangement to take home. Appetizers and wine will
be enjoyed by all as we create our masterpieces.

The annual Spring Luncheon is an event that honors outgoing and incoming board members. We also recognize our scholarship recipients and their families. Beautiful table arrangements are provided by the members. Join in an afternoon of good food, great conversation, and lovely surroundings.
